•African Americans: 20% more likely to experience serious mental health problems than the general population


•With half of all mental health disorders beginning by age 14, 20% of youth (1 in 5) has had a serious mental health disorder at some point in their life.


•Early intervention and treatment can help lessen the impact of a mental health disorder and improve life outcomes.


•Minority Populations: higher predisposition for mental health concerns: violence (victim or witness), trauma, poverty, and lack of access (financial, transportation).
